This post is a first in a series of posts that have great tips on how to create great content. After all the most important aspect of blogging is creating great content. Today I will write about different options that you can choose to enhance your blog content instead of telling you what you need to do. This way you can try out the different options and find out how they work for you. This is only a short post for you, but check in soon for the next in this series of posts.

To break or not to break. That is the question.

I am sure you have been reading countless of blog posts that differ between writing lots and lots of content in one post or just to keep your posts short and sweet. I know for sure I have! But truth be told, I don't think there is a right way to write your posts. Write how you feel. If you want to tell people what you have to say all in one big post. Go for it. Nothing is stopping you, or if you want to break it down and only write a few hundred words, that's fine too!

From a strategic point of view there are some points that you can take into consideration about the size of your posts. Bloggers tend to write smaller posts as they think it keeps the readers attention and keeps them interested. Another sneaky thing bloggers do is that they write telling the reader to check back tomorrow for the next instalment of the series. (I know I am writing a series of posts on creating great content but it would be a really, really long post!) This does generate returning traffic and it may attract the reader to check out some of your other posts. This is great for you for generating page views. Especially if you are running impression based ads on your blog and link from one post to the next in the series.

Individual pages will rank higher in search engines such as Google

With a more targeted post than a long one that has many themes and subjects, for example a post with one point is clearly more likely to rank well on that point than an article with ten points. On the other hand this is not always entirely true. A post with many points can still rank high in search engines as long as its targeted and the points correspond to one subject of the article. With all this in mind you will most likely get better relevant contextual advertising.

Of course this is partly a personal preference, a lot of people like the long rant and are frustrated with having to navigate a number of pages of a series. Me personally I really do not mind reading a long post as long as it is something that I am interested in. Your choice! What do you think? Let me know  in the comments below and with this post in mind that you just read. Check back in a few days to see the next post on creating great content.
